Richard O. Larsen, 94

Richard O. Larsen, 94, of Fort Calhoun died Friday, June 22, 2012, at his home.

Services are 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 26, at Abiding Faith Baptist Church in Fort Calhoun. Visitation will be 1 p.m. Monday with family receiving friends at 5 p.m. with a celebration of life service at 7 p.m. at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha with military honors presented by the Fort Calhoun American Legion Post 348.

Richard O. Larsen was born on May 9, 1918, at Bennett to Samuel Henry and Carrie Ora (Olson) Larsen.

He attended grade school at Ponca and graduated from Fort Calhoun High School.

He served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean War and retired after 20 years of service.

On April 20, 1942, he married Cecil Nelle Cox at Fort Calhoun.

He was a member of the Fort Calhoun American Legion, Solomon Masonic Lodge 10, Naomi Chapter 121 Order of the Eastern Star and Abiding Faith Baptist Church.

He had served on the Fort Calhoun Planning Board, City Council, Park Board, Historical Society and Cemetery Board.

He is survived by his wife, Cecil Nelle; sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Bonnie of College Station, Texas, and Bruce and Peg of Elkhorn; and grandchildren, Sarah, Ryan and wife, Brenda, Abby and Sally.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Hazel Perkins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Cedars Home for Children, Open Door Mission or the charity of the donor's choice.
