G. Marie Goodwin, 87

Herman native G. Marie Goodwin, 87, of Kearney, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005, at Mother Hull Nursing Home in Kearney.

Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, at the Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary in Kearney. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at the Herman Cemetery.

Marie Goodwin was born Feb. 22, 1918, in Herman to Hans and Josena (Fransen) Hansen. She graduated from Herman High School in 1934.

On Sept. 16, 1940, she married Jack Leach in Herman. The couple lived in numerous places in Nebraska and Oregon, before moving to Kearney in 1949. She worked at Montgomery Ward, the Kearney Candy Co., and Unimart for 18 years until she retired. Her husband died in 1959. On Dec. 12, 1980, she married Harvey Goodwin in Belleville, Kan.

Mrs. Goodwin was a member of the Legion and VFW Auxiliaries, where she was a past president; Eastern Star; 40 & 8 LaFemmes; BPO Does; and the Kennsington Card Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Fisher of Kearney; sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and Kenny Deckard of Tekamah; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lyle and Pat Hansen of Bartley and Wayne and Alice Hansen of Cambridge; sister-in-law, Patricia Hansen of Columbus; step-sons and step-daughters-in-law, Harvey Jr. and Lynn Goodwin of Naples, Fla., and Patrick and Sandy Goodwin of Sunrise, Fla.; step-daughter, Dorothy Wallace of Springfield, Ill.; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters, and a grandson.
