#1 Harvey W. Goodwin, Sr., 77

Harvey W. Goodwin, Sr., 77, of Kearney died May 18, 1998, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Services will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney with Rev. C. J. Willis officiating. Masonic Ritualistic services will be provided by the Rob Morris Masonic Lodge #46 A.F. & A.M. of Kearney.

Burial will be in the Herman Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. Friday, with military rites conducted by the Tekamah American Legion Post and V.F.W.

Visitation is today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary in Kearney. Forty & 8 memorial services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. at the mortuary.

Harvey W. Goodwin was born March 17, 1921, in Detroit, to Harvey and Irene (Doherty) Goodwin. He grew up and attended school in Cleveland, Ohio.

He was a veteran of World War II. After the war, he returned to Cleveland and was a self-employed candy salesman. He later moved to Iowa then moved to Kearney in 1980. He worked at Cash-Wa Candy Company and then was an instructor for Mid Nebraska Individual Services for three years until retiring in 1997.

On Dec. 12, 1980, he married G. Marie Hansen in Belleville, Kan.

Throughout his life, he was very active in organizations, including the Masonic Lodge, the Tehama Temple Shrine of Hastings, American Legion and V.F.W., Order of Eastern Star, Eagles and Elks.

He is survived by his wife, G. Marie, of Kearney; two sons, Harvey W. Goodwin, Jr., and Patrick Goodwin, both of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a step-daughter, Karen Fisher of Broken Bow, three grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandsons, and a brother, Warren Goodwin of Cleveland.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Memorials can be made to the Tehama Shrine Transportation Fund.

Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary of Kearney was in charge of arrangements.
