Funeral services for Albert F.C. Laaker of RR1, Nickerson will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlington. Rev. Dennis Masske will officiate. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery.

Laaker, 89, died Saturday, Oct. 20, at Memorial Hospital Skilled Care Center in Fremont. He was born March 4, 1895 in rural Arlington. He was a life-time resident of the community and a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

He married Vera Echtenkamp on Feb. 14, 1924. She survives, along with two sons, Darrell and Duane, both of Nickerson; two daughters, Mrs. Mardell Sanders of Des Moines, and Mrs. Bob Dorfmeyer of Fremont; brothers Lawrence of Arlington, Obert of Bennington, Leonard of Blair; sisters Emma Stork of Hooper and Carol Kempke of Blair; and nine grandchildren.

Albert F.C. Laaker, the son of William and Maria (Meier) Laaker, was born near Arlington, Nebr., on March 4, 1894. He was baptized March 27, 1895 by Pastor J. Hilgendorf and confirmed May 9, 1909 by Pastor Herman Hallerberg. He was united in Holy Matrimony with Vera Echtenkamp, February 14, 1924 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Arlington, Nebr. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

He passed from this life, Saturday, October 20, 1984, at the Memorial Hospital of Dodge County Skilled Care Facility. He is survived by his wife, Vera; 2 sons, Darrell Laaker and Duane Laaker, both of Nickerson; 2 daughters, Mrs. Mardell Sanders of Des Moines, Iowa and Mrs. Bob (Marva) Dorfmeyer of Fremont, Nebr.; 3 brothers, Lawrence Laaker of Arlington, Obert Laaker of Bennington and Leonard Laaker of Blair, Nebr.; 2 sisters, Emma Stork of Hooper, Nebr. and Carol Kempke of Blair; 9 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gerald Delano; 3 sisters, Malinda Laaker, Annie Dickmeyer, and Alvina Thompson; 2 brothers, Henry and William Laaker.

The family of Albert Laaker invites all relatives and friends to a lunch at St. Paul’s Lutheran Parish Hall at Arlington immediately following the committal service.
