Pilot 18 Nov. 1897

Mrs. Leonie Altschuler

Died at her home in this city, Saturday, November 6, 1897, of typhoid fever being 30 years of age.

She was the wife of Julius F. Altschuler and was born in Simcoe, Ontario, Canada, in 1867, and was married in Blair, Nebraska, in January 1886. Mr. and Mrs. Altschuler lived in Norfolk, Nebraska, for a time and in March 1806 moved to Kirksville. There is but one child – Edith – a little daughter of ten years.

The funeral took place from the residence Monday, conducted by Dr. Canfield and Rev. F. N. Chapman, of the Episcopal Church. Mrs. Altschuler has been a member of this church since early childhood and was one of the most devoted and earnest workers of the organization here.

The relatives present on this sad occasion wee: Mrs. Castetter and Mrs. Waltzinnger, of Chicago, sisters of the deceased; Mrs. Baum, of Norfolk, Nebr., sister of Mr. Altschuler and his brothers, Henry of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Adolph, of Keokuk.

Although Mrs. Altschuler had not lived in Kirksville a great while, she had many warm friends and her death is deeply regretted by many of our best people. She was bright and amiable in disposition and respected and admired by all. Her death, though not unexpected, was still a shock when it came, but the sorrowing husband has the consolation of knowing that every possible care and attention were given her; that nothing was left undone that could tend to secure her comfort or help in any way.

Little Edith accompanied her aunt, Mrs. Baum, to her home and will remain there for the present. Kirksville, Missouri, Weekly Advocate.
