Harold “Chic” Madsen, 79

Harold J. “Chic” Madsen, 79, of Blair, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 1997, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Blair. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery with military graveside services.

Harold J. Madsen, Jr., was born July 15, 1918, at Dale, Neb., to Harold J. and Selma (Hansen) Madsen, Sr. He graduated from Blair High School and attended Dana College prior to serving in the Army during World War II. On June 19, 1948, he married May Viles. He worked for the Nebraska Government for 25 years, was with the U. S. Postal Service for 20 years, serving as postmaster for a number of years, and was a bridge and culvert inspector for Washington County for a number of years.

He was a member, and past commander, of the Blair Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1251; a member of the Blair American Legion, 40 et 8 and First United Methodist Church.

Survivors are his wife, May; a daughter and son-in-law, JoLynn and Frank Wolff; sons and daughter-in-law, Ron and Linda Madsen; and Harold J. Madsen, III, all of Blair; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; six brothers, Charles and Burl, both of Atlanta, Geo.; Donald of Stillwater, Minn.; Murl, Mesa, Ariz.; and Jack and Robert of Blair; and two sisters, Harriett Pitt, Denver, Colo. And Lois Donaldson, Boulder City, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
