Roger “Mingers” Matzen, 60

Roger L. “Mingers” Matzen, 760, of Blair died Saturday, March 7, 1998, at Memorial Community Hospital.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Herman Legion Hall in Herman. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Mr. Matzen was born Jan. 22, 1938, in Blair to Otto and Georgia (Antill) Matzen. He graduated from Blair High School in 1955 and was a life-long resident of Blair. On April 22, 1960, he married Mardell Webster in Blair. He was in the masonry business and did work for several contractors in the Blair area.

He was a member of the Herman American Legion.

Survivors are his wife, Mardell; a son, Roger, Jr., of Omaha, and daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jesse Galvan of Bennington; two grandchildren, Nicholas Galvan and Katie Galvan; his mother, Georgia Matzen of Blair; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Liela Matzen of Blair and a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bob Wachowicz of Phoenix, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his father, Otto, and a brother, Ronald.
