Mildred E. Ruwe, 89, of Fremont died Monday, April 2, 2012, at Fremont Area Medical Center.

She was born April 29, 1922, in Wayne County to Fred and Adelia (Suhr) Weitzenkamp. When she was young, the family moved to the Uehling area where she attended school. She graduated from Uehling High School in 1939. Shortly after, she moved to Fremont where she worked at several different businesses. She married Donald Ruwe on April 8, 1944. The couple lived on a farm in Washington County near Telbasta. Later, they moved to Burt County. She continued helping her husband on the farm until they retired and moved into Fremont in 1992.

She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont and was involved in many different activities.

Survivors include: her husband, Donald of Fremont; daughters, Janis (and husband, Gerald) Stover of Hooper and Donna (and husband, David) Clough of Lake Bluff, Ill.; brothers-in-law, Richard (and wife, Dee) Ruwe of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Raymond (and wife, Loretta)Ruwe of Fremont. two sisters, Inez Young of Lincoln and Cora Hansen of Fremont; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont with the Revs. Michael Thomas and Delvin Hutton officiating. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

A memorial fund will be established at a later date.
