Ruth Teebken, 74, of Fremont died unexpectedly, Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Ruth was born Sept. 10, 1937, in Fremont to Luther and Wilmeth (Williams) Monke. She grew up in the Telbasta area of Washington County, attending a one-room country school. She graduated from Fremont High School in 1955.

On March 26, 1955, Ruth Monke was married to Richard “Dick” Teebken in Mississippi while he was serving in the United States Coast Guard. He left the states soon after and Ruth returned to Fremont, and then 6 months later she joined him in Honolulu where they were for two years.

Following his service they returned to Fremont where they lived for four years, and then built a home in Fontanelle where they lived for 30 years. They have lived in Fremont the past 12 years.

Ruth was a member of Fremont Alliance Church where for the last several years she had led the Wednesday night Awana girls. For several years, she was the local chairman of the National Day of Prayer. She led high school Bible studies and Sunday school classes for international students from Midland College. She also went on mission trips to Kenya and Hungary.

Survivors include: husband, Richard “Dick”; two daughters, Kara (and husband, Bradley) Brown of Lincoln and Beth (and husband, Gary) Morris of Fremont; two sons, Tim (and wife, Diane) Teebken of Seattle and Jeff (and wife, Jennifer) Teebken of Longmont, Colo.; 16 grandchildren, Caleb, Leah, Luke, Rachel and Emmarie Brown, Nicholas (and wife, Cara) Morris, Jeff (and wife, Abby) Morris, Jodi (and husband, Brian) Pritchard, Sam and Alex Morris, Faith and Grace Teebken, Laura (and husband, Nathan) Sloan, Ben and Andrew Teebken and Marla (and husband, Heath) Hardesty; three great-grandchildren, Caleb Sloan, Carlee Morris and Jaxson Morris; a sister, Muriel (and husband, Jim) Keeler of Fremont; a brother, Robert (and wife, Phyllis) Monke of Fremont; and sister-in-law, Helen Monke of Phoenix.

She was preceded in death by her brother, William “Bill” Monke.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Fremont Alliance Church with the Rev. Tom Nevius officiating. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery at Fontanelle.

Memorials are suggested to the Ceria Missionary Fund of Fremont Alliance Church.
