Richard J. "Dick" Maguire, 84

Richard J. "Dick" Maguire, 84, of rural Blair, died Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

A rosary will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, with a memorial mass to follow at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. There is no visitation.

Richard J. "Dick" Maguire was born on December 6, 1927, in rural Humphrey to Fredrick and Cecillia (Cook) Maguire.

He graduated from Humphrey Public High School and worked on the family farm.

On August 19, 1948, he married Jeannine Bermel and they moved to Newman Grove where they farmed.

They later moved to Omaha where he ran a service station for a few years. In 1957, he went to work for Greyhound Bus Company as a driver, retiring in 1987. He also owned and operated a vending machine business.

In 1980, they moved to rural Blair.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannine; son and daughter-in-law, Richard "Rick" and Lezlie Maguire of Omaha; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Larry Pearce of San Antonio, Texas, and Cheryl and Mike Doud of Rapid City, S.D.; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Kelly A. Huber, Jennifer L. and Shawn Schwantes, Jeffrey R. Lichtenberger, Heather A. and John Larreau, Christina M. and Thayne Whiting, Scott M. Pearce, Mandy L. Maguire; six great-grandchildren, Paige A. Zamora, Ashley B. Huber, Taylor J. Huber, MaKenna A. Larreau, Theo. W. Whiting and Matthew D. Larreau; and one brother, James of Humphrey.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Mark and George and infant brothers Pat and Mike.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home of Blair is in charge of arrangements.
