Maude Ethel Ellenberger, 89, widow of Harvey R. Ellenberger, died suddenly Saturday afternoon, November 14, 1987, at Tekamah.

She was born July 27, 1898, at rural Mound City, Missouri, to John Henry and Emma (Glick) Crist.

On January 8, 1918, Maude was united in marriage to Harvey Russell Ellenberger at Hutchinson, Kansas. The couple came to Tekamah in 1934.

Mr. Ellenberger preceded her in death on February 17, 1965.

Maude served many years on the Board of the Tekamah Public Library, was a long time member of the Tekamah Reading Club, was Past Matron and 50-year Member of Chapter #131, O.E.S.; and in two weeks would have received recognition for being a 50-year member of the P.E.O.

Maude was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Tekamah.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis (Mrs. Bernard) Pipher of Tekamah and Shirley (Mrs. Dale) McAllister of Craig; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dale Rowlett of Omaha, and Margaret Baxter of Encino, California; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 1987, at the First Presbyterian Church in Tekamah with Rev. Thomas E. Robson officiating.

Interment was in the Tekamah Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Hamel & Peck Funeral Home in Tekamah.
