Mrs. John Oberst passed away Thursday evening and was buried Sunday in the Herman Cemetery. The funeral was from the Methodist Church. Mrs. Oberst is survived by her husband, two sons and three daughters.

Mrs. John Oberst died at her home here Thursday, May 1, at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 13 days. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church on Sunday afternoon, Rev. C. C. Norlin conducting the services. Interment was made in the Herman Cemetery.

Mary Eleanor Cope was born at Fremont, Indiana, on August 19, 1849. She was married Jan. 28, 1870, to John Oberst. Shortly after their marriage they came to Nebraska and began life in true pioneer fashion in a two-room log cabin which is still standing at DeSoto where it was built. In 1880 they located on a homestead near Herman and experienced the hardships of those early days.

She is survived by her husband and four children: Mrs. Herman McGill and John T. of Tekamah, Mrs. Oliver Chambers of Bartlett, Iowa, and Ernest Bert of Herman. There are nineteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
