HENRY LAAKER DIED AT THE AGE OF 85

Services for Henry F. Laaker were held on Wednesday, September 11sth at 2 p.m. in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlington. Mr. Laaker, a retired farmer from Arlington, died at the age of 85 at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island, Nebraska, on Sunday morning, September 8, 1974.

A family prayer service was held Wednesday at 1:15 p.m. in the St. Paul’s Parish Hall. Rev. Donald Gesterling officiated at the services with Reckmeyer Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial was in St. Paul’s Cemetery.

Mr. Laaker was born on March 30, 1889 at Arlington. He served with the U.S. Army in France during World War I. He was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post 71 at Arlington. He was married to Emma Vogt on February 20, 1924 at Arlington. His widow survives him.

Other survivors include 2 daughters, four brothers, two sisters and six grandchildren. The surviving daughters are Mrs. Alvin (Lorraine) Gnuse, Carpenteria, California; and Mrs. Albert (Darlene) Hokamp of Arlington.

Surviving brothers are Albert of Nickerson, Lawrence of Arlington, Leonard of Blair and Obert of Bennington. The two sisters are Mrs. Emma Stork, Hooper and Mrs. Earl (Carol) Kempke of Blair.

Pallbearers are LeRoy Laaker, Dennis Laaker, Darrel Laaker, Clarence Stork, Donnie Laaker and Martin Dickmeyer.
