ROZELLA LAAKER, 88

Rozella Laaker, 88, of Blair, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, at Good Shepherd Home in Blair.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Rozella Echtenkamp was born Jan. 18, 1918, on a farm near Arlington to August and Amanda (Scheer) Echtenkamp. She was baptized, confirmed and attended parochial school at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, north of Arlington.

On Nov. 16, 1938, she married Leonard Laaker at the Trinity Lutheran parsonage in Fremont.

The couple lived and farmed near Kennard and Arlington until moving to Blair in 1950. They joined Trinity Lutheran Church after moving to Blair, and were members for more than 40 years. Mrs. Laaker was Sunday School superintendent for a number of years and she also taught Sunday School. She was a member of the choir and the ladies guild. She worked for Advance Cleaners for almost 20 years.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Denny and Mary Ann Laaker of Bennington; son-in-law, Larry Leehy, of Fairview, Texas; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Obert Laaker of Omaha, and a sister-in-law, Carol Jensen of Fremont.
