SERVICES SET FOR FRIDAY FOR VERA LAAKER

Vera Laaker, formerly of Nickerson, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 1988, at the Fremont Care Center, where she resided the past three years.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, north of Arlington with the Rev. Dennis Maaske officiating. Visitation will be Thursday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington. Burial will follow the service at the St. Paul’s Cemetery.

She was born November 14, 1900 in rural Arlington and lived in the Arlington-Nickerson area all of her life until moving to the Fremont Care Center. She was a member of the St. Paul’s Church and the Ladies’ Aid.

She married Albert F.C. Laaker on February 14, 1924 at St. Paul’s Church. He passed away in 1984. Her parents were Gottlieb and Emma (Hilgenkamp) Echtenkamp.

She is survived by two sons, Darrell Laaker and Duane Laaker, both of Nickerson; two daughters, Mrs. James (Mardell) Mohler of Des Moines and Mrs. Bob (Marva) Dorfmeyer of Fremont; one sister, Mrs. Albert (Alice) Montgomery of Arlington; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son- Gerald Laaker; one sister- Florence Echtenkamp; and one brother- Harry Echtenkamp.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

VERA L. LAAKER

Vera L. Laaker, the daughter of Gottlieb and Emma (Hilgenkamp) Echtenkamp, was born November 14, 1900 at rural Arlington, Nebraska. She lived all her life in the Arlington and Nickerson, Nebraska area. Vera was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church near Arlington, and was a member of the Ladies Aid of the church.

Vera married Albert F.C. Laaker on February 14, 1924 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Arlington, Nebraska. He died October 20, 1984.

Vera passed from this life on Tuesday, July 19, 1988 at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 5 days, at the Fremont Care Center in Fremont, Nebraska, where she has resided for the past 3 years.

She is survived by 2 sons, Darrell and Duane Laaker, both of Nickerson; 2 daughters, Mrs. James (Mardell) Mohler of Des Moines, Iowa and Mrs. Bob (Marva) Dorfmeyer of Fremont; a sister, Mrs. Albert (Alice) Montgomery of Arlington; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Gerald Delano; a sister, Florence Echtenkamp; and a brother, Harry Echtenkamp.
