MARILYN A. LAASE, 63

Marilyn A. Laase, 63, of Blair, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

Funeral services were Thursday, Jan. 5, at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield, with interment in the Wakefield Cemetery.

Marilyn A. Laase was born Nov. 13, 1942, at Wakefield to Harry and Ada (Walter) Bartels. She graduated from Wakefield High School in 1960, and attended a cosmetology school in Sioux City, Iowa. Upon graduation, she operated the Orchid Beauty Salon in Wakefield until 1981.

In October 1961, she married Donald Laase. He died in 1980. She married Gene Laase in 1980, and they moved to Texas, where Mr. Laase was employed. The couple also managed apartment buildings. Gene Laase died in November 1997.

Mrs. Laase remained in Texas for a year before returning to manage apartment buildings in Blair. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Blair.

She is survived by her mother, Ada Bartels; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Darrel VanderVeen, all of Wakefield; and one grandson and his wife; several sisters-in-law and their husbands; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her father.
