Lei Lany K. Rasmussen, 64

Lei Lany Rasmussen, 64, of Wisner, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at Alegent Health Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.

Funeral services were Sunday, Aug. 10, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wisner. Interment was in the Wisner Cemetery.

Lei Lany Kay Petersen was born Dec. 18, 1938, in Omaha to Peter A. and Getrude C. (Penke) Petersen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

She attended Herman Public Schools and graduated from Herman High School in 1954.

On June 21, 1958, she married Keith Rasmussen at Bethany Lutheran Church in Omaha. The couple lived in Omaha and Bennington before moving to Wisner in 1964.

Mrs. Rasmussen was employed by Ray Jensen’s law office and later by Mel Murphy in his law practice. Mr. and Mrs. Rasmussen later operated the Dairy Keen in Wisner. After selling the business, Mrs. Rasmussen operated Keith’s Hardware until she retired.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, its church choir, D. O. R., and had served on the finance board. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, along with crocheting and knitting, and vacationing with her husband and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed being around her friends.

She is survived by her husband, Keith; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Stephanie Rasmussen of Wisner; daughter and son-in-law, Charisse and Tom Ortmeier of Yutan; three grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Curtis and Jean Petersen of Herman; and sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bud Merryweather of Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Kuzelka-Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner was in charge of arrangements.
