RITES FOR A. RENSHAW ARE TOMORROW

Long Time Farmer in Orum Vicinity. Was Well Known Here.

Austin Renshaw, retired farmer who resided on North Third street, passed away at his home early Wednesday following a brief illness. The 76 year old man, who for more than a quarter century farmed near Orum, had lived in Blair since 1943.

Mr. Renshaw was born in Bethel, Michigan on November 24, 1872, and came to Nebraska with his sister, Mrs. Lewis Ward, at the age of 15 years. At the age of 22 he was united in marriage with Miss Alta Taylor, the wedding taking place in a house on the farm where they lived so long near Orum. At that time the farm was being operated by F. E. Hurdt, a stepfather of Mrs. Renshaw.

To this marriage two children were born. A son, Leslie Ervin, preceded his father in death at the age of 30 years. A daughter, Hazel, now Mrs. Harold Rasmussen, resides with her husband and family on the home place east of Orum.

Following their marriage, the young couple took up farming near Kennard, moving later to the Rose Hill neighborhood. After seven years at Rose Hill they farmed in the Gardener school district and later purchased the farm on Highway 93 east of Orum which remained their home until they retired to move to Blair in 1943.

While at Rose Hill, Mr. Renshaw was a member of the school board.

An industrious and careful farmer, the Henshaw farm soon established itself as a model of good farming, well kept buildings and good management.

Surviving the deceased are his widow, Mrs. Renshaw, the daughter, Mrs. Harold Rasmussen, seven grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A brother, Will, who resides in Michigan, also survives.

The deceased was a member of the Methodist Church in Blair, and services will be held from the church at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon, December 24th. Burial will be made in the Blair cemetery with Campbell Mortuary in charge.
