Henry Scheer Dead At 84

Had Made Home Northwest of Fontanelle 60 Years; Rites Sunday

Henry Scheer, 84, resident of the Fontanelle vicinity for more than 60 years, died early Wednesday morning, Dec. 8.

Funeral rites for the deceased early settler will take place on Sunday, Dec. 12, at 1:30 at the Scheer home and at 2 o’clock at Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Hooper. The Rev. E. Eckhardt, pastor, will be in charge of the services. Interment will take place in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Scheer, who have resided on the same farm since they settled in Washington County in 1883, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in January, 1943.

Born August 20, 1859, at Quincy, Ill., Mr. Scheer attended the Quincy Christian day school. He was baptized August 28, 1959, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in March, 1872. On Jan. 10, 1883, he was united in marriage to Caroline ?tily Heit Brink and the couple came to Nebraska that spring, settling on the farm northwest of Fontanelle where they had since made their home.

Surviving Mr. Scheer are his widow; four sons, Fred of Uehling, William of Norfolk, Henry and Walter of Herman; three daughters, Mrs. William Wilkening of Arlington, Mrs. Ernest Panning of Winslow, and Emma, at home; two brothers, Fred and Will of Arlington; a sister, Mrs. Amanda Goostling of Fremont; also 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
