MRS. GRANT LAGE FOUND DEAD TUESDAY

DEATH ATTRIBUTED TO DROWNING IN A CISTERN

Mrs. Grant Lage, 57-year-old Fort Calhoun woman was found dead in the cistern of her farm home early Wednesday morning. Death was attributed to drowning.

The discovery was made by Mrs. Lage’s husband when he arose about six o’clock to do the morning chores. Search for Mrs. Lage was begun when it was discovered that she was not in the house as was her custom at that time of the day.

The open cistern, which was on a porch or utility room connected to the house, was found shortly after the search was started.

The deceased woman was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Seltz, of DeSoto and was born September 27, 1897. She grew to womanhood in the DeSoto vicinity.

On October 17, 1920, she was married to Grant Lage, of Ft. Calhoun, the wedding taking place at the Seltz home at DeSoto.

She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Harold Anderson (Ann) of Portland, Indiana and a son, Donald, of Omaha. There are four grandchildren.

Two sisters also survive. They are Mrs. Ernest Kruse (Dorothy) of Fort Calhoun, and mrs. Lorraine Mummert, of Blair.

The Lages resided in the Greene school district southwest of Ft. Calhoun and had lived there throughout their entire married life.

Funeral arrangements had not been completed as The Enterprise went to press Wednesday evening. The body is at the Sievers Mortuary in Fort Calhoun.
