GRANDMA KATHERINE LAGE

Grandma Katherine Lage, who was buried beside her husband and other relatives in the Ft. Calhoun (Neb.) cemetery, March 28, 1912, was born in Holstein, Germany, February 20, 1832, and came from the home land with her family to Washington county in 1876. Her husband was buried in 1907, since which time she made her home with her children. This writer saw her less than two weeks ago when her son brought her to the train to visit her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Lehman, in Omaha, where she died March 25. She leaves one son, Gus, near the German Hall; a daughter, Mrs. Henry Michaelsen, near Rockport; a daughter, Mrs. William Lehman, in Omaha, and son, Henry, in Wayne county.

Grandma Lage was one of those grand German mothers who have helped to make the name of the dear fatherland so prominent wherever they have been known throughout the United States.

The funeral was from the Presbyterian church. The sermon and the music was in her old home language that during her life had brought up so many sweet memories of her childhood and her happy bridal days. Rev. Grahn of Ponca Creek Lutheran church preached the sermon. Mrs. Joe Bolin and Mrs. Edward Brenner sang the anthems, with Mrs. Charles Rathjen at the organ. The church was filled with people from Omaha, Blair and other places. The pallbearers were Deitleif, John and William Kruse, Deidlef Teitzen, Henry Hansen and Claus Resen. The flowers were many and beautiful.

The family all desire to thank those who so kindly sympathized and assisted them during the illness and interment of their dear departed mother. W.H. Woods
