Elsie M. Elliott, 80

Elsie M. Elliott, 80, of Tekamah, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.

Funeral services were Thursday, February 9, at the First Baptist Church in Tekamah. Interment was in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Elsie M. Elliott was born March 20, 1925, in Waterloo to Charles and Anna (Austin) Richards.

Her father left when she was a few weeks old. Two years later, her mother remarried Clarence Brockway of Decatur. Brockway raised Elsie as his own. The family moved around often, as her father worked different farm jobs. When she was young, she attended several different schools. After they left the farm, the family moved to Decatur. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1943. She then worked at Eagleton's Department Store for a year.

In 1944, she married Paul Elliott. They lived on a farm north of Tekamah, as he was a farmer. They had a daughter and two sons, Beverly, Lonnie and Larry. Mrs. Elliott enjoyed being a homemaker, especially cooking. She loved her family very much and enjoyed doing things with them and for them.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tekamah, where she belonged to the A.B.W.M. Society, served on the work group and was a co-chairman of the Rebecca Circle.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law; Lonnie and Linda, Larry and Vicky Elliott all of Tekamah; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice Hennig of Parker, Colo.; brothers and sisters-in-law; Ivan and Joann Brockway of Corpus Christi, Texas, Clarence and Nita Brockway of Decatur, Myron Brockway, Onaway, Mich.; sister-in-law, Gennie Elliott of Craig.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, in 1980; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Larry Dreeszen; granddaughter, Jennifer Elliott; and sister, Darlene Rich.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church and Tekamah Rescue Squad.
