Lorraine Wachter, 78, of Herman, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998 at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.

Services were Monday, Jan 4, 1999, at the Herman Legion Hall. Burial was in the Herman Cemetery.

Lorraine Norma Flake was born Feb. 18, 1920, at Herman to Edward and Augusta (Hass) Flake. She attended the Vacoma School and was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Vacoma.

On Aug. 24, 1941, she married Jack Wachter at the Vacoma Church. The couple lived and farmed in the Herman area. Mr. Wachter died in October of 1991. In 1992, Mrs. Wachter moved to Herman.

She was a member of the Herman Federated Church.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Lois Wachter of Herman and Gary and Ruth Wachter of Blair; one daughter and son-in-law, Lorita and Gus Whitehead of Omaha; five grandsons, three granddaughters; five great grandchildren; one brother, Darrell Flake; and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack; and one sister, Thelma Heinssen.
