Obituary

Mrs. Mary C. Taylor, wife of Rev. Geo. W. Taylor, who for a number of years has resided among us, departed this life on Sunday morning last after a lingering illness, the cause of death being consumption. Mr. Taylor was absent in the western part of the state at the time of her death, and was twenty miles from a telegraph office, and only received word in time to reach home after the chilly finger of death had closed her eyes in a peaceful and quiet sleep, the awakening of which will be eternal glory.

Mrs. Taylor was born in Georgetown, Ohio, on the 29th day of January, 1827, and was 62 years, 10 months and 25 days old. At the age of 14 years she was baptized by the Rev. Aaron Sargent, and joined the Baptist Church at Georgetown.

When 20 years of age she was married to the Rev. George W. Taylor. They lived in the state of Ohio, until the year 1878, when with their family, they removed to Nebraska, since which time she has been a member of the Baptist Church, first at Cuming City, then at Blair. She was the mother of seven children, two of whom died in infancy, and the other five are left with the husband to mourn her death. She also leaves two older brothers and a younger sister who reside at her childhood home. In Mrs. Taylor’s death, a noble life has come to a close.

The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. John V. Whiting, at the Baptist Church, assisted by the Rev. John Power, of the Congregational Church, on Wednesday morning at 10 a. m. Her remains were interred in the Blair Cemetery.
