Max Taylor, Ex Blairite, Is Dead

Max W. Taylor, 55, a native of Blair, but a resident of Whittier, Calif., for the last quarter century, died Monday, following a major operation.

Funeral services were held at Whittier, on Wednesday.

The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jud Taylor, well-known early Blair residents, Mr. Taylor was the first of seven brothers to die. He leaves nine brothers and sisters, including Mrs. J. Harold Stewart and Fred Taylor of Blair; his parents and one sister preceded him in death. Also surviving Mr. Taylor are his widow and a son, Max G. Taylor, who is “somewhere in the South Pacific” with the Merchant Marines.

During his 25 years of residence in Whittier, Mr. Taylor has been assistant superintendent of the Whittier State School for Boys.

FORMER BLAIR MAN DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Word reached relatives in Blair last week of the death of Max Taylor of Whittier, California. He was a native of Blair, born here fifty five years ago, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jud Taylor, well known in Blair.

Max went to Whittier, California something like thirty years ago, and was employed as assistant superintendent of the whittier State School for Boys, which position he held until his death, and this position of trust he filled most efficiently.

Surviving are his widow, Lois M.; one son, Max G., who is in the Maritime Service and at present is in the South Pacific; three sisters, Mrs. Gwen Smith and Mrs. Arlene Warrick, both of Whittier, California; and Mrs. Merl Stewart of this city; and six brothers, H. Byron of Alhambra, California; Fred J. of Blair; Edwin B. of Denver, Colorado; Ivan C. of Reinbeck, Iowa; Carleton S. and Paul C. of Omaha, Nebraska.

Funeral services were held on April 5th, and the ovations showered upon him were mute tokens of the love borne him and respect in which he was held in the community in which he lived.
