MRS. ELLIOTT LAKE

I would like to write a few words as a tribute to the memory of Mrs. Lake, who died last week. We are glad to know that her hard life is over and that she rests from her labors.

Mrs. Lake was one of the most patient and courageous women that I ever knew, always cheery and looking for better days. She reared her large family, not only to lead respectable, moral lives, but also to fear God and keep his commandments. She was very anxious for their education and thought no sacrifice too great to keep them in school. She always made the most of their very limited means.

She was a humble Christian woman and although debarred from church privileges she respected the Sabbath, kept it herself as far as possible and tried to have her children do so.

Her life was very obscure, unheralded and unsung and she would be very much surprised that any notice should be taken of her death. Unknown on earth, her record is on high.

MRS. G.L.P.
