Christian Wulff Dies Wednesday

Had Been Washington County Resident Since 1870

Christian Wulff passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S. E. Vizina west of Calhoun last Wednesday evening following an illness of lengthy duration. The deceased was born in Schleswig, Holstein, Germany, July 13, 1854, and was 76 years of age at the time of his death. He came to America when he was 16 years of age locating at Blair where he worked for a number of years. He later moved to a farm near Orum.

In September 1881, he was married to Miss Wilhelmenia Voigt and to this union five children were born, four of whom are living. A daughter, Mathilda, died in 1895. Mr. Wulff has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Vizina, since the death of his wife in 1926.

Surviving him are three sons, Gustav and Chris of Blair, and Emil of Scribner, and a daughter, Mrs. Vizina of Calhoun, besides 14 grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. John Kuhr, and a brother, Claus, both of Blair, also survive him.

Funeral services were conducted from the German Lutheran Church in Blair at 2:00 o’clock Saturday afternoon with Rev. J. G. Lang, officiating, after which interment was in the Blair Cemetery. His grandsons, Marvin, Norman, Lester, Alvin and Edwin Wulff and Vernon Vizina acted as pallbearers.

CHRISTIAN WULFF

Christian Wulff passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S. E. Vizina, west of Fort Calhoun at 11:45 Wednesday evening, July 16th, following a long illness.

Mr. Wulff was born in Schleswig, Holstein, Germany July 13, 1854. He was seventy six years and three days old at the time of his death. He came to this country when sixteen years old, coming direct to Blair, Neb. where he worked for a time. Later he went on a farm near Orum where he made his home for over forty years. He was married to Miss Wilhelmenia Voight on Sept. 8, 1881. Five children were born to them, all of whom are living except one daughter, Mathilda, who died in 1895.

Mr. Wulff has made his home with his daughter, Minnie, Mrs. S. E. Vizina, for over four years. The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of many friends and the sweet memory of a worthy and honorable father whose life has been a long blessing to them.

He is survived by one daughter and three sons, Gustav and Chris of Blair, and Emil of Scribner and Minnie Vizina of Ft. Calhoun. Besides the children, he is also survived by one sister, Mrs. John Kuhr, one brother, Claus, both of Blair. There are fourteen grandchildren surviving him also.

The funeral services were held at the German Lutheran church at two o’clock Saturday afternoon, Rev. Lang officiating.

Mr. Wulff was a pioneer settler in this county and a large attendance of relatives and friends were present to pay their last tribute of respect to his memory.

The pallbearers were the grandsons: Marvin, Norman, Lester, Alvin and Edwin Wulff and Vernon Vizina.

Burial was in the Blair cemetery by the side of his wife whose death occurred in 1926.
