SUMMONS FOR OLD SETTLER

Edward Lallman, one of the old settlers of 1869, well-known throughout this section, died early Friday morning at his home in Fontanelle. This announcement comes as a great shock to his friends. Mr. Lallman had not been well, but his condition did not seem alarming. He was taken with dizzy spells Monday, but this symptom was not regarded as serious. However, his condition steadily grew worse until the end came.

Mr. Lallman was a native of Germany. He was born in Bielefeldt, December 31, 1843, and therefore was past seventy years of age. He came here in the spring of 1869. For a few years he was in the employ of Henry Sprick. About 1875 he was married to Miss Minnie Bockerman. To them twelve children were born and ten are still living. The children are W.A. Lallman, residing in Winslow; F. Edward, Arapahoe; Herman, Winsdlow; Henry, Emil, Cecil, Gilbert, Minnie, Anna and Ellen, all at home. Misses Anna and Ellen have been attending Fremont college.

#2-January 29, 1914- Arlington Review Herald- Edward Lallman

The grim reaper, Death, has levied a heavy toll in our neighborhood during the past week. Friday morning Edward Lallman, an early settler, was suddenly called from our midst from a stroke of apoplexy. Mr. Lallman was born Dec. 31, 1843, being past 70 years of age, coming to Fontanelle in the spring of 1867, and later was married to Miss Minnie Votth. There survive besides his wife to mourn his loss N.H. and Herman Lallman of Winslow, and F.E. Lallman of Arapahoe; Henry, Emil, Cecil, Gilbert, Minnie, Anna and Ellen still at home. Mr. Lallman was of a quiet, retiring disposition, but no one ever heard but volumes of praise of him as a neighbor and citizen, at all times willing to help in times of sorrow and distress. He especially was a most kind and loving father and advisor to his large family of boys and girls, who about nearly all have grown to splendid man and womanhood on the place where he resided, who will greatly miss him. The funeral was held at the ‘German Lutheran church in our town, of which the deceased was a lifelong member. The casket, which was covered with a wealth of beautiful flowers, placed there by loving hands, was consigned to its final resting place in the cemetery near the church.
