VERNON D. LALLMAN, 82

Vernon D. Lallman, 82, of rural Hooper, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

The funeral service was Monday at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Interment was in Fremont’s Memorial Cemetery.

Vernon D. Lallman was born May 26, 1926, at Nickerson to Dietrich “D.C.” and Ethel (Boyd) Lallman. He grew up in the Fontanelle area, attending Immanuel Lutheran School east of Winslow. He also attended Hooper High School.

He worked for Western Union Telegraph for three years in Texas, then returned and farmed with his father.

On Jan. 16, 1948, he married Donna Jean Ellison in Fremont. They lived on a farm in Washington County for six years, then moved to a farm northwest of the Bluffs Trinity Lutheran Church, northwest of Fremont, where they have lived until the present time.

Mr. Lallman was a member of the Bluffs Trinity Lutheran Church, Fremont Antique Car Club, the Omaha Chapter of the Studebaker Club, the National Studebaker Club, and he was a collector of old tractors. He is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Nadine Lallman of Omaha, Tom and Robin Lallman of Hooper; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Lallman of Peoria, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Jean, in November of 2008; and by a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Kathy Lallman.

Ludvigsen Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
