Mrs. Belle Lamb was born November 22, 1879 in Indiana and came to Nebraska at the age of three with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Sutherland. She was the last survivor of a family of nine children. She was educated in the Sutherland school and the Blair schools from which she graduated in the class of 1898. She later attended the Fremont Normal School. She taught school for several years in the county and Blair schools. In 1907 she was married to Charles Lamb and to this union two children were born, Everett and Vera (Mrs. Clyde Sappenfield). The family lived on a farm in the Sutherland neighborhood until moving to Blair in 1926.

Mrs. Lamb was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blair for seventy years. She enjoyed her work of the church and served as a Sunday School teacher for thirty years and held other offices in the church as Deaconess, church clerk, Pres. Of Women’s Mission Circle and others.

She also enjoyed community affairs, having served in the Red Cross work during World War I, on the NRA in the 1930’s, the Ration Board, and more recently on the election boards.

Mrs. Lamb lived at Parkview Manor since it was constructed and at the Crowell Home the last two months, where she passed away December 9, 1972 at the age of 93.

Her husband Charles preceded her in death in 1945 and her son Everett in 1970. She is survived by her daughter, Vera, 5 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many friends.

Services were held December 12, 1972 at the First Baptist Church with burial at the Blair Cemetery, Rev. James Metzgar officiating. The Bendorf Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
