ELLA JEAN LAMB

Blair native Ella Jean Lamb, 86, of Fremont, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, at the A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the Presbyterian Church in Fremont. Interment will be in Fremont’s Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation began Monday, but will also be held at the church on Tuesday, one hour prior to the services.

Ella Jean Tegt was born April 2, 1919, in Blair to Henry and Ferne (Ervey) Tegt. The family moved to Fremont during her early childhood years. She received her education in Fremont, graduating from Fremont High School and attending Midland College for a year, taking a secretarial course.

She moved to California, where she met her future husband, who was a career Marine Corps Warrant Officer stationed on El Toro Marine Air Base near Santa Ana, Calif. On July 19, 1943, she married Thomas C. Lamb in Santa Ana. The couple moved to Fremont in 1959. They owned and operated the Sweete Shoppe in Fremont on 4th and Bell streets until retiring in the late 1980s.

Mrs. Lamb was a member of the Presbyterian Church, an extension club, and the Questers Antique Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Lamb of Fremont; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Marilyn Lamb of Columbus, and Ronald and Alyson Lamb of Mt. Airy, Md.; four grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Kathryn Tegt of Fremont, and Richard and Darlene Tegt of Camarillo, Calif.; and a sister Mary Lee Tegt of Omaha.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, in 1997, and two siblings,, who died in childhood.

Memorials are suggested to the Presbyterian Church or the donor’s choice.
