Eugene W. "Gene" Kohler, 79

Eugene W. “Gene” Kohler, 79, of Chiefland, Fla., died on Monday, July 16, 2012, at North Florida Regional Medical Center.

A memorial graveside service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, at the Herman Cemetery.

Eugene William Kohler was born April 27, 1933, in Tekamah to Clyde and Dora Kohler.

Mr. Kohler was a retired machinist in the farm equipment industry. He worked as a machinist at the Kohler machine shop in Herman for 10 years and then at Nebraska Engineering Co. in Omaha.

He moved to Chiefland from Nebraska many years ago.

He enjoyed playing country music, gardening, fishing and tinkering in his workshop making things. He loved to help others build and fix things.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Cox Kohler of Chiefland; two daughters and son-in-law, Donna and Mike Schutt of Tekamah and Sandra Stricklett and Rich Hope of Blair; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Lori Kohler of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Phillip Kohler of Chiefland; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Kohler and Dora Orr; sisters, Jaccie and Nancy; and brother, David Kohler.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
