Telbasta Boy Dies Saturday

Clarence Richard Arvid Gustafson, 24, died last Saturday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Gustafson in Telbasta. His death followed an illness of several years resulting from infantile paralysis.

He was born at Oakland May 26, 1906, and moved to Telbasta with his parents in 1911.

Funeral services were held from the Telbasta church Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock with Rev. L. L. Peterson, pastor of the church, officiating, after which burial was made in the Telbasta Cemetery.

Surviving him are his parents and four sisters. A twin sister preceded him in death eight years ago.

Clarence Richard Arvid Gustafson was born My 26, 1906 at Oakland, Neb., and died Jan. 17, 1931 at the age of 24 years, 7 months and 22 days at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Gustafson, north of Telbasta.

At the age of ten he was stricken with infantile paralysis which left him an invalid for the remaining years of his life. Two weeks before his death he took a cold which turned to pneumonia, this being the direct cause of his death.

He, with his parents, lived at Oakland until he was four years old, at which time they moved to their present residence where they have since made their home.

A twin sister, Clara, preceded him in death at the age of eight years. Those left to mourn his death are his parents and five sisters: Mrs. Lucy Smith of Oakland, Elin of Omaha, Hilda, Edith and Anna at home.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the home and at 1:30 p.m. from the Telbasta Evangelical church, Rev. Patterson officiating. Burial was made in the Telbasta Cemetery.
