Katie Gutschow Died At Hospital Friday, Sept. 27

Miss Catherine Gutschow, long-time clerk in Blair stores, died Friday at Memorial Community Hospital. She was 80 years of age. She was born at Blair July 16, 1894, and lived here her entire life.

Known to her many friends as “Katie,” she was employed as a clerk for many years in the Kolterman Ben Franklin Store. Prior to that she had filled several other similar positions. She never married.

At the time of her death, she was living at the Robinson Apartments, on South 16th Street, opposite the City Hall. She was the daughter of the late Chris Gutschow, who for many years was a farmer in the Blair area.

She had no survivors, her parents being both deceased and she had no brothers or sisters living.

Funeral services were held at the Campbell Mortuary Monday afternoon and burial was made in the Blair Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Albers of the First Lutheran Church conducted the service. Music was furnished by Eleanora Plugge and Clare Cowing and burial was made in the Blair Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Mortuary.

Friends of the deceased were pallbearers.
