Services were Wednesday, December 28, at First Baptist Church with burial in the Blair Cemetery for William Gutschow, 76, of Blair, who died at the Memorial Community Hospital December 25, 1994.

William J. Gutschow was born July 19, 1918, in Blair to William Jennings and Georgia Frances Lutz Gutschow. He attended school in Blair.

He married Edna Nicholson October 16, 1940, at Papillion, Nebraska.

He served in the Navy during World War II.

He was the dispatcher under Sheriff Burt Spanton and later was deputy and chief deputy under Sheriff Jim Kelley from 1975-1980. In 1982, he was elected sheriff and served in that capacity until retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Blair American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Blair Fire Department and served on the City Council.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Jacqueline Bolton.

Surviving him in death are his wife, Edna; three daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Jim Bolton and Lila and Ken Rohwer, all of Blair and Vickie and Rick Voss, Lincoln, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Mike and wife, Shannon Bolton; Jason Bolton, Jon Rohwer, Angela Voss and Brian Voss and one great-grandson, Lucas Bolton.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
