Rites For Mrs. Vernocia Guyer

Death Comes Suddenly to Resident of Many Years. Family Here.

After an illness of a very short duration, Mrs. Vernocia L. Guyer passed away at the Methodist Hospital at Omaha, Nebraska, Friday morning, July 21, 1939. Her passing came as a complete surprise to her relatives and many friends as she had been active p to just shortly before her death.

Vernocia L. Miller was born at Harrisville, West Virginia, July 23, 1869, and she had lived until Sunday of the past week, would have had her seventieth birthday.

As a young girl of thirteen she came west with her parents where she lived on a farm between DeSoto? and Blair.

On October 31, 1889, she was married to Oscar A. Guyer at Blair, Nebraska. After her marriage she resided at Missouri Valley, Iowa, for one year; then, moved back to Blair where she has made her home in surrounding communities, the past twenty-seven years having been spent in the city of Blair, Nebraska.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Oscar Guyer in 1935, and one infant daughter, Lucille, in 1901.

Her surviving children are one daughter, Glenna (Mrs. Andrew M. Madsen), of Lyons and three sons, H. Lyle and Fred of Blair and Burman of Lincoln.

Six grandchildren are left to feel the loss of a devoted grandmother.

She also leaves her aged mother, Mrs. Mary S. Miller, who has made her home with her for several years.

Three brothers and four sisters also survive, Grant Miller of Wichita, Kansas, Harry Miller of Detroit, Michigan, Fred Miller of Portland, Oregon, Mrs. Anna L. Jennings of Blair, Mrs. Nellie Alexander of Brooklyn, New York, Mrs. Carrie Gantz of Dallas, Texas, and Mrs. Maude Rolfson of San Francisco, California. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Her friends were countless for to meet her you were a friend. Her activities were many, her church coming first. She professed her faith in Christ many years ago and had been a member of the Methodist Church for years. She was also a member of the W. R. C. for over twenty-five years. She devoted much time to civic activities and self was completely forgotten in the service of others.

Services were held Monday afternoon at two o’clock at the Methodist Church with Rev. Ralph P. Rasmussen officiating.
