Rose E. Staben, 92

Rose E. Staben, 92, of Blair, died Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

Services are 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 31, at Grace United Methodist Church in Kennard. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in the Kennard Cemetery.

Rose E. Christensen was born on December 19, 1919, to Nels P. and Della (Lake) Christensen.

She attended school at an early age and then later had a goal to earn her GED. She completed that goal at the age of 60.

Over the years, she was a vital part of the farm. She helped her husband, Clifford Staben, with chores that needed to be done and was a hard worker.

For several years she worked as the head baker at Dana College in Blair.

The couple enjoyed traveling and they made a home in Arizona for a couple of years.

Her family was always very important to her. She made an effort to get all of her family together for birthdays and holidays. She was always sure to guarantee that nobody would leave her home with an empty stomach.

She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Gene Staben of Missouri Valley, Iowa, and Marvin and Sharen Staben of Keenesburg, Colo.; five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; brother, Charlie Christensen of Blair; and sister, Christine Rosenbaum of Fremont.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford H. Staben, in 2011; and sister, Ruth Lauthrop.
