James C. Paulsen, 81

James C. Paulsen Jr., 81, of Blair, died Monday, July 23, 2012, at his home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home.

James C. Paulsen Jr. was born January 16, 1931, in Blair to James and Ella (Christiansen) Paulsen.

He was a graduate of Blair High School and attended Dana College.

He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

On February 17, 1952, he married Wilma “Jean” Wheeler at First Lutheran Church in Blair.

He worked as a postal carrier for the US Postal Service and retired from there in 1986.

Mr. Paulsen loved being on the river and he enjoyed working on outboard motors which he did for more than 50 years. He had a passion for his garden, and was known for having the best sweet corn in Blair. He was proud of his sweet corn and enjoyed sharing it with friends and family members over the years.

He was an active member of the American Legion Hain-Flynn Post 154 in Blair, and was also an active member of the American Legion “40 and 8” organization.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Paulsen of Blair; sons and daughter-in-law, Rick and Susie Paulsen of Blair and Mike Paulsen of Papillion; daughter, Pam Lemon of Louisville, Colo.; daughter in-law, Linda Paulsen of Rapid City, S.D.; brother and sister-in-law, Donnie and Pat Paulsen of Omaha; sister, Mary Ann Todd of Omaha; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Randall James Paulsen; and son in-law, Doug Lemon.

Memorials may be directed to the American Legion Post 154 or First Lutheran Church in Blair.
