Funeral services were held Monday, August 19, at First Christian Church in Fremont for Roy A. Wakefield, 72, who died suddenly August 26, 1983, in Memorial Hospital of Dodge County in Fremont.

The Rev. Doran F. Myers officiated. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery with Masonic Lodge 232 of Kennard conducting Masonic graveside services.

Roy A. Wakefield was born March 8, 1911, at Lillian, Nebraska, to Thomas and Jennie Cunningham Wakefield. He married Eva J. Boock on January 14, 1934 at Herman. She preceded him in death on October 9, 1980.

Formerly of Herman and Kennard, he had lived in Fremont since 1947. He was a member of First Christian Church and the John S. Bowen Masonic Lodge 232 AF & AM of Kennard.

He was retired from George A. Hormel Co.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one brother, Warren.

He is survived by one brother, Marion T. Wakefield of Blair; and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Les Wakefield, John Wakefield, Tom Wakefield, Troy Wakefield, Michael Wakefield and James Wakefield.

Mrs. Robert Melick was organist. Mrs. Robert Saylor and Miss Marie Nusz sang a duet.

Memorials have been established for the First Christian Church in Fremont and the Masonic Lodge in Kennard.
