Warren Wakefield Dies Suddenly Early Sunday

Warren O. Wakefield, a long time resident of the Herman area, died suddenly at his home early Sunday, January 9th. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

Mr. Wakefield had been outdoors in the severe cold and had returned to his home near the Herman business district. He had seated himself in a chair, and death, apparently came peacefully and quietly, according to information provided the Pilot-Tribune.

Mr. Wakefield was 59 years of age, having been born at Broken Bow, Nebraska May 10, 1917. He had been a farmer for many years prior to moving to Herman. He was married to the former Marjorie Fletcher who survives him.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Leslie Wakefield of Herman and Wilbur Wakefield of Rochester, Minnesota. There are four grandchildren. He has two brothers, Marion Wakefield of Blair and Roy Wakefield of Fremont.

Funeral services will be held at the Herman Legion Hall on Tuesday, January 11th at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. William Wittaker will be charge of the service. Burial will be made in the Herman Cemetery under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary in Blair.

Pallbearers will be Leonard Loftis, Jerry Method, Allan Iverson, Robert Arnold, Jim Brummond and Joe Fitch. Honorary pallbearers will be Clarence Arnold, Harold Paulsen, Otto Matzen, Clarkson Husk, Paul Hancock, Dr. James Thone and Allan Yowell.
