Elsie Kay Walker, 87

Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, at Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church in Fort Calhoun for Elsie Kay Walker who died January 6, 1990. Interment is at the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Elsie Kay Walker was born in the family home in Fort Calhoun, Nebraska on October 30, 1903. She was one of eight children. Her parents were Hans Detlef and Helen Hass Kay.

She graduated from Blair High School and then attended business school in Omaha. She worked briefly for an architectural firm and then as a secretary to the Omaha postmaster for 36 years. She enjoyed 31 years of retirement.

She attended Sunday School at the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church and later joined Dundee Presbyterian Church in Omaha. She enjoyed swimming and doing volunteer work at Eppley Care Center and at the Uta Hallie Girls Home.

She married Lloyd Walker in 1929.

She was preceded in death by her two brothers and five sisters and her parents.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Wendell Kay and Barbara Walker; son, Richard Allan Walker of Tualatin, Oregon; a sister-in-law, Amanda Kay of Blair and nieces and nephews.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the services.
