Memorial services for Maxine J. Walker, 81 of Litchfield Park, Arizona and formerly of Fremont who died Saturday, January 4, 1992, at her home, are 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 31 at St. James’ Episcopal Church. Rev. Ronald Wiley is officiating. Committal will be at the columbarium at the church.

Funeral services were held in January in Arizona.

Maxine Johnson was born June 9, 1910 in Herman. She graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1931. She then lived in Fremont until 1976. She was secretary/treasurer of the Fremont Tribune from 1939-1966.

She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Fremont, Chi Omega Sorority, P.E.O. and Order of Eastern Star.

She married Lester A. Walker June 24, 1935 in Herman. He was owner/publisher of the Fremont Tribune for 27 years.

She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Ann Walker of Phoenix and Jane Walker of Pleasant Hill, Oregon.
