WALTER LANGEMEIER, 88, 8/30/08 – 7/30/97

Walter P. Langemeier, 88 of Scribner, Neb., died Wednesday, July 30, 1997 at the Fremont Area Medical Center.

Services were Saturday, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hooper. Rev. Carl Lehmann officiated. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Langemeier was born Aug. 30, 1908 to George and Bertha (Stover) Langemeier on the family farm near Hooper, where he grew up. On Feb. 21, 1933, he married Mabel Beck in Snyder, Neb. They farmed in the Hooper and Telbasta areas until 1966. He sold seed corn for Hoegemeyer Hybrids for 50 years and also worked for Elkhorn Valley Fertilizer and the Scribner Co-op, retiring in 1975.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and its Lutheran Laymen’s League. He had been a 4-H leader, had served on the school board of District 18 and for many years manned the Cumming Township Agricultural Booth at the Dodge County Fair.

Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Don Brown of Fremont; four sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Helen Langemeier of Scribner; Glen and Connie Langemeier of Fremont; Larry and Vera Langemeier of Manhattan, Kan. and Ton and Linda Langemeier of Essex, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in –law, Mildred Maahs of Scribner; Hazel Langemeier of Fremont and Arliene Packer of Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel in December 1983; a sister, six brothers and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may go to St. John’s Lutheran Church or to the Good Samaritan Center in Scribner.

Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont was in charge of services.
