VIRGINIA L. LANOUETTE, 76

Virginia L. “Ginny” Lanouette, 76, of Fort Calhoun, died Feb. 18, 2008, in Fort Calhoun.

Funeral services were Thursday, Feb. 21 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Omaha. Interment was in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Virginia Louise Thomas was born Feb. 14, 1932, in Nashville to Clare and Marie Thomas. She lived in Fort Calhoun until 1950.

On Dec. 2, 1950, she married Hugo Bud Lanouette in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They lived in Casper, Wyo., until 1957; then moved back to Fort Calhoun, where Mrs. Lanouette lived the rest of her life.

Mr. and Mrs. Lanouette owned and operated the Rustic Inn in Fort Calhoun from 1970 until 1984.

She was a member of the Fort Calhoun American Legion Post No. 348 Auxiliary and Ruth Circle at Trinity Lutheran Church.

She will be remembered for the fireworks season and salad dressing. She will be greatly missed by her family and the friends who were such an important part of her life.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Rose Marie and Bill Davis of Omaha, Vicky Gautreau and Ted Kantor of Gilman City, Mo.; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Teresa Lanouette of Springfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren; mother, Marie Thomas of Blair; and sister, Leora Jackson of Omaha.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud, in April of 2003; her father; a sister, Lucille Stricklett; and a great-grandson, Avery Hugo Gautreau.

Memorials are suggested to Fort Calhoun Fire and Rescue, Trinity Lutheran Church in Omaha, or the American Diabetes Association.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Rose Marie and Bill Davis, of Omaha, Vicky Gautreau and Ted Kantor, of Gilman City, MO; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Teresa Lanouette, of Springfield, MO; mother, Marie Thomas, of Blair, NE; sister, Leora Jackson, of Omaha; grandchildren, David, Marti, Tish, Heather, Amy, Shara, and Adam; 9 great-grandchildren.

VISITATION Wed 3 – 8 pm, with family receiving friends from 5 – 8 pm, all at the Funeral Home.

FUNERAL SERVICE Thurs 11 am, Trinity Lutheran Church, 30th & Redick. Interment Ft. Calhoun Cemetery. Memorials to Ft. Calhoun Fire and Rescue, Trinity Lutheran Church or American Diabetes Assoc.
