HAROLD LANTEFIELD, 82, 10/8/14 – 4/29/97

Harold Wallace Lantefield, 82 died Tuesday, April 29, 1997, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, 11 days after undergoing emergency open-heart surgery.

Services were May 2 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland. Rev. Michael H. Dismer officiated. Burial was in the Tekamah Cemetery.

Lantefield was born to Rudolph and Alma (Anderson) Lantefield Oct. 8, 1914 at his parents’ home four miles northwest of Craig, Nebr. He graduated from Craig High School in 1932. On Jan. 15, 1938, he married Leota Eckley in Tekamah. After several years of farming in Burt County, they moved to Tekamah. He spent the majority of his remaining working years as an over-the-road driver for Kelly Ryan Equipment Company in Blair.

Survivors are his wife, Leota of Tekamah; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and LaVerl Merz of Lincoln, Nebr.; two granddaughters, and their spouses, Debra and Ray Stall and Cynthia and David Doran, all of Eagle, Nebr.; four great-grandchildren, Tony Stall, Matthew Stall, Ashley Doran and James Doran, also of Eagle; and two sisters, Ferne Wachter of Sausalito, Calif. and Phyllis Green of Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Kenneth Merz and two brothers-in-law, William Wachter and Thomas Forrest Green.

Casket bearers were Tim Doran, Ken Musil, Scott Olson, Randy Olson, Randy Artman and Norman Shamburg.

Billy Pearson was the organist. John Peck was the vocalist.

Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice or to the family.

Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah was in charge of arrangements.
