ALICE R. LAPOUR, 80

Alice R. Lapour, 80, of Blair, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair. Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 27, at the United Methodist Church in Geddes, S.D., with interment following at Pleasant Lawn Cemetery in Geddes.

Alice Rosalie Lapour was born Sept. 4, 1923, to Frank James and Anna Emily (Fuchs) Rysavy in Tripp County, S.D.

When she was six years old, she and her family moved to Lake Andes, S.D., where they farmed. She lived and worked with Margaret Sprik during high school. She graduated from Lake Andes High School in 1941.

She quit working for Sprik when she married Henry Lapour in 1944. The couple farmed near Geddes until retiring in 1972. She worked at Geddes School as a cook’s helper and assistant janitor for more than 20 years. In January 2002, the couple moved to Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

Mrs. Lapour was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women’s Organization, senior citizens, Democratic committee, American Legion Auxiliary, and civic clubs. She enjoyed making pheasant feather creations, gardening, canning, cooking, and making quilts for her grandchildren.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia A. Hennum of Atlanta, Ga.; Linda R. and Deane Koster of Blair; Margaret and Jimmy Christensen of Belle Fourshe, S.D.; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Bev Rysvay of South Sioux City; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Keith Mohror of Brookings, S.D.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, in March 2002; four brothers, and one granddaughter, Connie Koster.

Koehn Brothers Funeral Home in Geddes was in charge of arrangements.
