Grace Lillian Wallsen

Grace Lillian Wallesen, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Wallesen, was born at Fort Calhoun, Nebr., June 4, 1902, and passed away at her home in Bayard, Nebr., June 19, 1919, after an operation for appendicitis, followed by a nervous breakdown, at the age of 17 years and 15 days.

The greater part of her life was spent in the eastern part of Nebraska, at Ft. Calhoun and Central City, before the family moved to Bayard in April 1917, their present home. While living in Central City she became a Christian and united with the Baptist church of that city, and as soon as she moved to Bayard she place her membership in the newly organized Baptist church of Bayard. Her untiring efforts and devotion to the church were largely responsible for whatever success the church attained.

She had just finished her junior year in high school and was planning upon completing the high school course next year. Though naturally retiring in disposition her sweet, jovial, happy personality won for her distinction.

Grace has passed away, but she will live on in the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her.

She leaves to mourn, and yet to be enriched by her life and spirit, her father and mother, four sisters, Helen, Hazel, Florence and May, two brothers, Howard and Roy, and countless number who claim and cherish her friendship.

Funeral services were held at the home Saturday, conducted by Rev. Brownlee of the Methodist Church, and burial was in Bayard cemetery.---Bayard Transcript.
