Thees T. Wallman, 88, of rural Martell died Oct. 21, 2004, at the Gold Crest Retirement Center in Adams.

Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 25, at the Christ Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, with interment in the church cemetery. Military graveside services were conducted by Post No. 253 of the American Legion of Cortland.

Thees T. Wallman was born March 10, 1916, at rural Filley, to Thee E. and Theelke (Busboom) Wallman. He was baptized March 31, 1916, at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, and confirmed on Easter Sunday, March 27, 1932, at Christ Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell.

He moved with his family to Cortland, where he attended the Wallman School through third grade, and graduated from the Sunnyside Rural School.

On May 16, 1941, he married Marie Viola Schmidt at Christ Lutheran Church.

He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942 until 1945. After his discharge from the service, he and his wife moved to a farm near Princeton, where he farmed for 46 years, retiring in 1991.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Pickrell, where he was a choir member and served on the church council, Lutheran Men in Mission (Brotherhood), Sunday School superintendent, member-at-large on ALC Central District Council, presidents of Central District Brotherhood, and was treasurer of Lutheran Brotherhood Branch 8540. He also served on the Lancaster County Farm Bureau Board and the Princeton School Board, and was a member of Post No. 253 of the American Legion of Cortland. He enjoyed his family, farming, and baseball.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Rose Wallman of Lincoln; two daughters and a son-in-law, Debra Wallman of Fremont, and Malinda and Bob Jepsen of Blair; son-in-law and wife, David and Karen Slusher of Beatrice; four grand-children and their families; sister, Teda Meints of Cortland; five sisters-in-law, Kathryn Wallman of Beatrice, Renstina Rathe of Weeping Water, Ellenora and Jack Besch of Sterling, Norma Schmidt of Adams, and Francis Schmidt of Tecumseh; two brothers-in-law and spouses, Arnold and Marjorie Schmidt of Wymore and Bob and Anora Schmidt of Beatrice; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeannette Wallman Slusher, four brothers and their wives, Ehme and Grace Wallman, John and Minnie Wallman, Jerry Wallman, George and Emma Wallman; and six brothers-in-law, Clarence Meints, Howard Rathe, John Schmidt, Edwin Schmidt, George Schmidt, Art Schmidt and his wife, Shirley.

Memorials are suggested to Dana College in Blair, and the Oaks Indian Center, with Raymond and Anna Dorn in charge.

Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice was in charge of arrangements.
