Inez G. Walrod, 88, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, at her home in Arlington.

Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church north of Arlington with the Rev. Rick Kanoy officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington, and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Inez G. Walrod was born Aug. 22, 1915, in Cornell to John and Alma (Perkins) Underhill. She was a graduate of Trenton High School and worked as a practical nurse at Stratton. She moved to Beaver City in 1946, where her family operated a restaurant. She moved to Fremont in 1960, where she worked as a cosmetologist and, in 1966, she moved to Arlington. She operated a beauty shop in Arlington until she retired in 1978.

On Sept. 21,1935, she married Ralph Hinkle in Trenton. He later died. On Feb. 7, 1975, she married Melvin J. “Buck” Walrod in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He died in 1987.

Mrs. Walrod was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and V.F.W. Post No. 8332 Auxiliary of Arlington.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Marcia Hinkle of Omaha; daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Irvin Easom of Ontario, Ore.; brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Bethel Underhill of Nehalem, Ore.; sister and brother-in-law, Laurene and Boyd Giesselman of Arlington; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Robert Underhill.

Memorials are suggested to Arlington Rescue Squad and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington is in charge of arrangements.
