Duane W. Von Seggern, 82, of Scribner, died early Friday morning (Aug. 6th) in the Fremont Area Medical Center.

The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, at St. John's Lutheran Church (County Line) . Military Honors will be rendered by American Legion Post 196. The committal will be later in St. John's Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Tuesday (Aug. 10th) from 2 to 8 PM with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ludvigsen's Scribner Funeral Chapel in Scribner.

Duane W. Von Seggern, 82, of Scribner, died early Friday morning, Aug. 6, 2010, at the Fremont Area Medical Center.

The funeral service was Wednesday, Aug. 11, at St. John's Lutheran Church (County Line). Military honors were rendered by American Legion Post 196. Interment at a later date will be in St. John's Cemetery.

Duane W. Von Seggern was born Jan. 29, 1928, on the family farm near Hooper. He grew up in the Hooper/Scribner area and graduated from Scribner High School in 1945.

All his working years were spent farming, and he also drove a truck for several years for Steve Nelson out of Oakland.

Mr. Von Seggern was an active musician for 50 years. He played with Les and his Merry Men, the Dick Wickman Band, the Don Hamsa Band, the Orville Von Seggern Band, and the Bob Rabe Trio.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church (County Line) where he had been baptized and confirmed. He had been very active in the church choir.

He was also a member of the American Legion Post 196 of Uehling, having served in the United States Army during the Korean War years of 1950 - 1952.

On April 12, 1953, he married Lorna M. Preston in the Memorial United Methodist Church in Lyons.

He is survived by his wife, Lorna; daughter and son-in-law, Luanne and Mark Sundberg of Arlington; two sons, Brian Von Seggern of Adams and John Von Seggern of Blair; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Kaisha and Micah Sundberg, Arthur, Mae and Max Von Seggern, and Alex Von Seggern; brother and sister-in-law, Orville and Volline Von Seggern of Omaha; sisters and brother-in-law, Anita and Kenneth Dahl of Scribner and Dorothy Wobken Clausen of Fremont.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: Arthur, twins Raymond and Rolland, and Vernon.

Memorials are suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church.

Ludvigsen Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
